About SSA Office Finder

SSA Office Finder is a private website that helps people find their local Social Security office and get through common Social Security tasks with fewer wasted trips and phone calls. We are not part of the Social Security Administration, and we are not a government agency.
Who runs this site
This directory is independent. Nobody at the Social Security Administration (SSA) reviews, endorses, or pays for what appears here. The official SSA website is ssa.gov, and anything that involves your personal record, your benefits, or an application has to go through SSA itself.
We built the site because finding an office address and the right phone number, then working out whether you need an appointment, takes more effort than it should. Most people arrive stressed and in a hurry, so we try to put the answer first.
Please do not share your Social Security number with us
We never ask for your Social Security number, date of birth, or any account login, and this site has no forms that collect them. If a website or message claiming to be us asks for that information, do not respond to it.
Where our information comes from
- Field Office Data: Office addresses, phone numbers, and weekday hours come from the field-office list SSA publishes as a public data file. We cover offices in all 50 states and Washington, DC.
- Geolocation Mapping: Time zones for each office and the ZIP code locations behind our "near me" search come from U.S. Census Bureau data. Map coordinates for offices were looked up with the Census Bureau geocoder and, for a small number of addresses it could not match, OpenStreetMap.
- Emergency Closure Alerts: Temporary closure notices come from SSA's own office closings and emergencies page. We check that page once a day and remove a notice when SSA does. Between checks, a notice can be up to a day out of date, so call the office if you are about to travel.
- Federal Holiday Schedule: The holiday list follows the one SSA posts on ssa.gov for the current year.
How our guides are written
Each guide is written from the matching pages on ssa.gov, and the sources are linked at the bottom of the guide so you can check them yourself. Phone numbers, fees, form numbers, and document lists are taken from those pages, not from memory. Every guide shows the date we last reviewed it.
SSA changes its rules from time to time. In January 2025, for example, it began requiring appointments for most in-person office service, and we updated the affected pages when that happened. Where we could not confirm a detail with a source, we say so instead of guessing. One example is the phone menu: SSA does not publish a numbered menu, so we do not list one as official.
What we cannot do
- We cannot see or change your Social Security record, benefits, or payments.
- We cannot book appointments, take applications, or replace a card. Only SSA can.
- We cannot give legal or benefits advice. Our pages are general information, and your situation may differ.
Advertising and funding
There are no ads on this site today. We may apply to show ads through Google AdSense in the future. If that happens, ads will be labeled, kept apart from phone numbers, buttons, and search fields, and will not change what our guides say. Please leave out your Social Security number and other personal details. We read every correction and fix confirmed errors as soon as we can.
