State Supplementary Payment (SSP) Rules
Oregon provides a State Supplementary Payment (SSP) on top of federal SSI. The supplement is administered separately by the state, not the SSA — contact Oregon's human services agency for payment details.
Medicaid & Health Coverage Integration
SSI recipients in Oregon are guaranteed Medicaid (Oregon Health Plan (OHP)) using the same income and disability rules as SSI, but must file a separate application with the state.
Office Walk-Ins & Hearing Offices (OHO)
Since January 2025, Oregon field offices require an appointment for in-person service, including Social Security card requests — book online or call ahead before visiting. Walk-ins are still served for urgent situations (vulnerable individuals, military personnel, people with terminal illnesses) and at offices with minimal wait times. For disability appeals, Oregon's Office of Hearings Operations (OHO) has hearing offices in Eugene and Portland.
